Original wood engraving circa 1886 by Smith after a drawing by William Thomas Smedley for Picturesque Atlas of Australasia published in Sydney between 1886 and 1888 to commemorate 100 years since the First Fleet settlement at PortJjackson, and to describe and illustrate the discovery, exploration, settlement and development of Australia and the Pacific Island neighbours. This engraving is part of a page recording this important regional activity in the 19th century. 

In good condition with later hand-colour, the engraving measures 200 x 175mm (approx. 8 x 7 inches).
