Stud-Farm, Horse Breeding. Visitors shown Horse and young Foal.

Original wood engraving for Black and White periodical published in London circa 1892 (with later hand-colour).
This engraving has been separated from the lower half of a page with Lord Rosslyn's Stallion 'Peter' (previous item).

Illustrations of the text in this periodical were engraved on wood for printing. Images of events – typically horse-racing – ensured the periodical's popularity. Engravings have always been avidly collected, cut out and coloured by hand for further enjoyment.

This engraving has been mounted between ragmat conservation board to mask the separation, and is covered for better presentation, and protection until framed. Engraved image measures 145 x 215mm (5.75 x 8.5 inches).
