Beautiful Old World Map, Nova Totius Terrarum Orbis. (Blaeu c1630) Print.

$145.00

Very decorative modern reproduction from a 1630 edition of an early map of the world, Nova Totius Terrarum Orbis Geographica Ac Hydrographica Tabula.. originally issued in 1606 by Guiljelmo Blaeuw (Willem Janszoon Blaeu).

This is a fine reproduction from a hand-coloured copperplate engraving of Blaeu's World Map on Mercator's Projection, with spheres showing North Pole and South Pole, three cartouches with information about the map, and the whole surrounded in a fabulous border of people, representing the four elements on the left, the four seasons on the right, mythical gods across the top, and, at the base, important structures and phenomena from around the world.

This grand early map has been reproduced by the Huntingdon Library, on heavy paper with a gloss finish. Our scan is not very good. The colour is crisp and bright.

Size: 46 x 61cm (18 x 24inches).
