$40.00

Antique Print of Water Birds: 1. Le Rale d'eau. 2. Le Courale male. 3. Le Rale de terre. Fine original hand-coloured copperplate engravings by LeGrande after a drawing by Jean-Gabriel Pretre for Histoire Naturelle des Oiseaux, published in Paris circa 1833 by Bernard Germain Etienne de la Ville sur Illon, Comte de Lacepede (1756-1825).

Plate measure 245 x 160mm (9.6 x 6.25 inches). Finely engraved and hand-coloured, these plates always have slight soiling in our experience. Perhaps it is an indication of their popularity and handling.. Prices always reflect condition.
