From 1868 to 1914 each week's Vanity Fair periodical included a caricature with a short parady of someone who had been in the news. The caricatures guaranteed the popularity of Vanity Fair, and most people took pride in being the victim who was satirized. Over half the total caricatures were by ‘Spy’ (Leslie Ward).

This is a wonderful book for anyone interested in horse racing. 34 jockey caricatures with accompanying texts – and also facts and figures about jockeys, races, wins, – and the Vanity Fair 'cartoons'. It is a treasure for lovers of the horse-racing.
