Wonderful Dust Jacket is a wraparound painting of a damaged French town. Slight damage at edges and foxing of returns. Red cloth hard cover with gilt title on spine is in good condition. External pages are foxed, upper ends of pages soiled, but internally mainly clean though age-discoloured.

The Life of Sam Loggins, first met when he is fighting his way through Italy with the paratroop unit, but this is not a war novel. During a break in fighting he heads through the south of France with a fellow military man. Their different personalities and their behaviour are at the centre of this story.
