Framed small Australian architecture by William Hardy Wilson.

$90.00

Small framed Australian architecture reproduction print from the original by William Hardy Wilson (1881-1955).

Architect, artist, author and garden designer, Hardy Wilson was born in Campbelltown, New South Wales. Apprenticed to a firm of Sydney architects for several years, in 1905 he left for London where he qualified as an architect. Seven years later he returned to Australia to set up in practice. Hardy Wilson’s appreciation of the restrained simplicity and beauty of Australia’s Georgian architecture is evident in his artistic documentation within the collection of pencil drawings accented with crayon, published in 1924 in Old Colonial Architecture in New South Wales and Tasmania. His biographer Caroline Simpson wrote “With the pencil of the architect, the pen of the author and the eye of the artist, Hardy Wilson recorded the beauty of the old buildings..”

We have framed this lovely little print in a simple narrow wood moulding, to compliment the print. External framed measurement is 360 x 315mm (approx. 14 x 11.5 inches). (There were few in this interesting series of prints.
