"Georg Dionysius Ehret was a genius in a very limited field, the drawing of plants.. in an age in which botanical illustration was highly prized, Ehret became the foremost botanical illustrator." His fine hand-coloured copperplate engravings were technically skilful, scientifically correct, and some of the most interesting botanical antique prints ever done.
