$90.00

Antique Print of Alaska. A View of Snug Corner Cove in Prince William Sound, Alaska – a beautiful region with many large and small islands, and habitat of much wildlife, including whales.

Wonderful original copperplate engraving by Eastgate for the publication of the voyages of Captain Cook. This engraving was for the larger edition published in London by Alexander Hogg circa 1784 as "A new, authentic, and complete collection of voyages round the world, undertaken by order of His present Majesty, for making new discoveries in geography, navigation, astronomy, &c. in the Southern and Northern Hemispheres, &c., &c., &c.

There are a few foxing spots along the edges and on the right side of the engraving, and slight external age discolouration, but otherwise in good condition, it is a beautiful scene and very good engraving. The page measures 235 x 385mm (9.25 x 15 inches).
